Procedure Preparations
If you are being admitted or having outpatient surgery, your physician may ask that pre-op tests be performed a few days prior to your hospitalization. Click here for more information about Common Tests and Procedures. If you have questions regarding the donation of blood for surgery, please contact your physician.
Always bring the following with you when receiving medical services:
- Identification
- Insurance Card (s) and information about the primary insurance carrier
- If you have a copy of the physicians order, please bring it with you.
- List of medications that you are currently taking so that we can make sure that if medication is required during your procedure that there is no potential for drug interactions or allergic reactions. Bring this list with you for any inpatient or outpatient procedure. To assist us in this process, please fill out the Patient Information and Medication List.
- Advanced Directives (Living Will), if available.
Pre-Op Testing
Some health plans require that your pre-op tests be performed at their contracted facilities. Please check with your insurance company to see where your tests should be performed. If you are to have scheduled pre-op testing, please call Central Scheduling at 281.401.7000 or fill out the Appointment Request Form online, and a Central Scheduling representative will contact you promptly.
When you arrive at Outpatient Diagnostic Building for pre-op testing, please go to the Outpatient Registration Department, located on the first floor.

Pre-procedure Teaching
Pre-procedure teaching may be required a few days prior to hospitalization for certain procedures. A nurse will explain the procedure, dietary restrictions, and explain other expectations, as well as discharge instructions.
Pre-procedure teachings occur in the Outpatient Diagnostic Building. When you arrive at Outpatient Diagnostic Building for pre-op teaching, please take the elevator to the 2nd floor. Exit the elevator, turn left, and then right down the hallway. Look for sign that says “Pre-procedure Appointments” on the right side, and enter through the door next to the sign.
Remember to make transportation arrangements prior to day of procedure, if necessary.

Pre-registration Information
Click to complete the Pre-Admission Registration Form, prior to your hospitalization. By completing this form online and as early as possible, Patient Access Representatives are able to process your registration information, contact you if there is any missing information, and provide you with co-insurance estimates prior to your hospitalization date.
If you are being admitted to Tomball Regional Medical Center, bring a few personal belongings to having during your hospitalization. Items may include comfortable sleepwear, a robe, slippers, toiletries, a toothbrush, brush or comb. If you wear glasses or dentures, be sure to bring those too (and their protective containers). Mark you personal belongings with your name in case they are misplaced. While the staff takes precautions with your belongings, the hospital cannot be responsible for breakage or loss of such articles.
Please leave the following at home: large sums of money, credit cards, and jewelry. If you need to bring any of these items, we ask that you secure them in the hospital safe. Tomball Regional Medical Center is not responsible for personal items, the loss of money or other valuables retained in patient rooms.

Medications
Your doctor will prescribe any medicines required during your stay. They will be filled in our pharmacy. Every medicine that you receive in the Hospital is reviewed, prepared, and delivered by a licensed and registered pharmacist. The pharmacist screens your medications to make sure that there is no potential for drug interactions and that you are not given any drug to which you might be allergic. Please fill out the Patient Information and Medication List and bring with you.
In the event that you brought medication with you from home, please give your medications to your nurse who will put it in the hospital safe.
Valuables or Lost Items
Please do not bring items of value with you to the hospital, including jewelry. If you do bring anything of value, it should be deposited in the hospital safe. You will be given a receipt for all items, which must be presented when you withdraw the items from the safe. The hospital cannot assume responsibility for loss of personal items from your room or automobile. If you lose something, please notify your nurse immediately. Lost items that are not claimed within 30 days will be donated to a charitable organization.
